  • Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

A postdoctoral research fellowship is available for 4 years to work full time on “Manufacturing of Advanced Hip Joint Prostheses”.

An applicant should have an honours degree and a PhD degree in the field of manufacturing, mechanical, materials, mechanics, bioengineering, or a relevant discipline. Experience/background in one of the following areas will be an advantage: (1) research/fabrication of hip joint prostheses, (2) solid mechanics modelling, (3) materials science/engineering, or (4) diamond or diamond related materials.

Applications, including curriculum vitae (including a publication list, if any), university academic record, and the names, addresses (including e-mails) and phone & fax numbers of two referees, should be sent to:

Professor Liangchi Zhang, School of Aerospace , Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, The University of Sydney, NSW 2006, Australia (E-mail: L.Zhang@usyd.edu.au)

  • Postgraduate Scholarships in Manufacturing & Solid Mechanics

Several scholarships are available, and each will provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis for a research project leading to a PhD. These scholarships are

    (a) Two scholarships in “Manufacturing of Advanced Hip Joint Prostheses”

    (b) Two scholarships in “Tribology in Metal Rolling”

    (c) Two scholarships in “Nano-manufacturing Technology”

    (d) One scholarship in “Multi-scale Solid Mechanics Modelling of Materials”

The stipend of each of the scholarships is A$25,118 (tax exempt). Applicants should have an honours degree in the field of manufacturing, mechanical, materials, mechanics, or a relevant discipline. Experience/background in one of the following areas will be an advantage: (1) microstructural analysis of materials, (2) solid mechanics modelling, (3) CNC programming, or (4) molecular dynamics analysis.

Applicants should be Australian citizens, permanent residents of Australia , or New Zealand citizens. Without the above residential status, applicants must be able to cover the tuition fee by themselves. The scholarships are only for living expenses.

Applications, including curriculum vitae (including a publication list, if any), academic record, and the names, addresses (including e-mails) and phone & fax numbers of two referees, should be sent to:
